Admission Requirements
1. Admission Requirements
a) To qualify for admission into St. Monica Institute of Theology, the candidates must be of good moral character.
b) The candidates in possession of High School Diploma which allows enrollment in the civil university in the Philippines can enroll.
c) For three years Bachelor in Sacred Theology program, candidates are required to have completed bachelor in Philosophy or equivalent. Kindly check the attached files below for required philosophical courses.
d) The enrollment for Theology of Religious Life requires the possession of minimum of High School Certificate.
e) The candidates from other schools who have fulfilled the requirements for admission (in 1b above) must provide a certificate of completion of an equivalent program of Philosophy with satisfactory results (VG, 55 §1.a.).
f) No student is allowed to enroll in more than one Faculty, College, Institute or School to work for more than one academic degree at the same time.
2. Ecclesiastical Endorsements
For a candidate to be admitted, he or she must present a letter of recommendation from his/her Religious Superior or Bishop. Individual students for lay program are to present a recommendation letter from their Parish Priest or any Catholic Priest.
3. Required Documents
a) These documents are required for application to the Institute:
i. Duly accomplished enrollment form.
ii. Photocopies of Certificate of Baptism and Confirmation.
iii. Official transcripts from all Colleges/Universities attended.
iv. 2×2 ID picture shall be taken on the day of enrollment.
v. Letter of endorsement and sponsorship from the Bishop or Religious Superior or Parish Priest as the case may be.
vi. Photocopy of passport Bio-page and ACR (Only Foreign Students).
vii. Foreign Students whose first language is not English must submit certificate of the IELTS (where this certificate is lacking, the student shall be asked to take English language proficiency class and examinations). Filipinos maybe required enrolling in English Language course if English Language proficiency is not adequate.
4. Method of Selection
a) The Saint Monica Institute of Theology is open to all male and female religious congregations, diocesan seminarians and lay persons.
b) The Director for admission may require additional documents if necessary.
c) The number of students to be admitted is determined by the adequacy of accommodations, personnel and facilities.
5. Student Classification
a) Ordinary Students: those who pursue courses for the purpose of obtaining a degree.
b) Extraordinary Students: those who pursue courses in order to meet the requirements of an ecclesiastical career.
c) Special Students: those who pursue courses on Theology of religious life and Systematic Theology for Lay for the purpose of obtaining Certificate of Attendance.
